As Managing Director of Cooke & Mason, David has day-to-day responsibility for driving along the insurance broking business. David’s early career covered sales, commercial underwriting and claims with major insurance companies. He has been in insurance since 1984 and broking since 1990. Outside of work, David was a keen cricketer and rugby player and following his ”retirement” from active sport he took up coaching and golf. He is now a RFU Level 2 (rugby union) coach and enjoys a single figure golf handicap.
David has over 30 years’ experience as an insurance broker having worked for a number of different firms in the East Midlands and North West. Prior to that, he worked for the Cornhill Insurance Company (now Allianz of course).
David is responsible for commercial insurances at our Lincoln and Retford offices. He has an eye for, and is expert in managing the more complex requirements, providing advice on such as D&O and Environmental Impairment, in addition to the more standard covers. He has also developed particular specialisms for Commercial Property, Construction and High Risk Liability Business Insurance.
Outside of work, David enjoys getting involved in challenges to earn revenue for deserving charities and has a keen interest in history and philosophy.
After seven years in general accountancy practice, working in audit practice before progressing to Corporate Senior, Elisa joined the Cooke & Mason family in 2004. In addition to her accountancy responsibilities Elisa holds a number of wider general management responsibilities and is an important member of the acquisition team. Elisa continues to play Flat Green Bowls, both indoors and outdoors, at the highest level, having represented her country and recently won two national titles.
Ian started his insurance career with General Accident Insurance Company, initially in the Claims Department, before leaving to enter into the Broking World. Seven years later Ian joined Cooke & Mason (originally called Stephenson’s) to assist the directors in developing the commercial business then progressing to become a Director a few years later. With over 25 years’ experience Ian’s main focus is to look after existing clients, customer care being paramount, and continuing to develop the business.
Outside of work, Ian was a keen cricketer, playing for Lincolnshire and Notts Colts, but has now hung up the willow and picked up irons instead! He enjoys spending time with his family, supporting his beloved Tottenham and can be found riding his motorbike at weekends!
With an insurance career going back 20 years, Steve works within commercial broking, specialising in construction, residential and domiciliary care insurance. Steve moved from Kent in 2010 to join Cooke & Mason and his approach to work is based on the ethos that good customer care brings longstanding client relationships.
A family man Steve supports Arsenal FC and enjoys looking after his small holding, including Boris & Pendragon the alpacas!
Val’s insurance career began when she joined General Accident, straight after leaving school. She initially worked in the Motor Department before moving on to Claims.
Val joined Cooke & Mason (then known as Stephenson’s) in 2003 and over the years with the company has built up strong relationships with many personal lines and commercial clients. She is committed to her customers and believes that customer care and attention to detail are paramount in her role.
Outside work Val is a fanatical Preston North End football fan and enjoys trips around the country to watch the team. She enjoys spending time with her family.
