Cooke & Mason plc was founded by Steve Cooke over 35 years ago and has grown to become one of the UK’s leading commercial insurance brokers whilst maintaining a hold on its original values. Our success is built on our commitment to ensure that the customer comes first and this commitment is still at the heart of Cooke & Mason plc.
Over time, it became obvious to everyone at Cooke & Mason plc that, to better serve our clients, we needed to redefine the standard of insurance broking. We set about ensuring that not only were our staff experts in insurance but also in industry specific risk management. Over the last 20 years, Cooke and Mason have become recognised as specialists in the field of commercial insurance employing experts in the motor trade, haulage, logistics, warehousekeeping, environmental and charity divisions. The philosophy has helped us to grow, with particular success in the leisure, hotel, construction, lifts and environmental sectors.
In 2000, we established our health and safety division, Crown House, which is now part of our associate company Sigerson Associates Ltd, a specialist health and safety consultancy, to address the never-ending and onerous health and safety needs of our clients. In addition to providing a range of bespoke health and safety services, Crown House developed and launched their award winning Staff Shield product which provides a number of valuable and complimentary risk management services.
Working closely with our clients, trade associations and our health and safety division enables us to ensure we are prepared to support and advise our clients on the challenges and emerging risks which the rapidly changing business and regulatory environment present.
Since the company was formed in 1976, the Cooke & Mason group has continued to grow both organically and through acquisitions. In 2008, we acquired the long-established Lincolnshire insurance broker, Stephenson’s Insurance Services.
In 2011, our expertise in the haulage, logistics and warehousekeeping sectors led to Cooke & Mason plc becoming Insurance Brokers to the Transport Association and Crown House as Health and Safety Consultants to the Transport Association.
Further, the start of 2011 saw the health and safety specialists, Sigerson Associates, join the group.
Whilst in our own right we are one of the Top 75 Independent Insurance Intermediaries, with our sights set on entering the next tier, in 2007 we joined Brokerbility, an alliance of like-minded, independent, regional brokers placing over £450m of premium.
